Recoil – premier performance, tonight only
Tonight, Friday, September 21st, is the debut of Recoil, a new performance by Staycee Pearl. We love Staycee’s design for the Tazza D’Oro web site, and we wish her lots of luck with this new show. She calls Recoil a “dance-for-camera installation adventure.” It features live dance and animated illustrations from hand-drawn and digital images derived from American and Northern African cities.
The production will be staged at the Construction Junction Gallery (did you know they had a gallery? we didn’t!) at the corner of Meade and Lexington in Point Breeze. The shows are at 8:30pm and 10:00pm.
Far from a solo project, Recoil includes work from sound designer Herman “Soy Sos” Pearl (of Soma Mestizo fame), animation by After Effects wizard Isabelle Strollo, set design by local sculptor Isaac Bower, and contributions from film artist Andres Tapia and dancer Lisa Belcher.
Here’s a big “break a leg” to Staycee and her crew. We hope to see you at the show!
